Many of you who use KaKaRoTo PL3 payload may have come across an issue where your existing rips did not work. According to a tweet by KaKaRoTo, the issue lies in if you use the Hermes payload. He says that for some reason if you install a game VIA Hermes payload, it seems that the game becomes "locked" to his payload. The fix is to simply UN-install the game, and re-install it with the PL3 payload, and it will work with all other payloads without issues.

iLLNESS confirmed to me that if you install a game with hermes payload, then it will only work with his payload. Seems the payload locks it.

Uninstall games, then reinstall them when using PL3 then they will work with any payload. Don't know what's different though with hermes pay

Huh? I have at least 40 games, that's going to be the biggest pain in the ass ever, it took long enough the first time.

How is it possible that the rips are different? They're the exact same games.

Well, It would be a good idea to specify what does he exactly mean with install. Original blu ray to external hard disc? Ext HD to int HD? Its confusing

its not ripping the games its the game file that it installa onto the hardrive when u play a game for the first time dumby all u have to do is delete it and reinstall it its not hard

KaKaRoTo has a huge vendetta against the Hermes payload... As I mentioned in another thread, when i installed the new PL3 I couldn't use any backup manager except the new 2.1e... To me if it works it works, but PL3 makes options of backup managers VERY slim it seems... and also requires re installs... *sigh* I'm not exactly saying that I don't appreciate the work, but come on... can't we make something without the idea of destroying other people's work and accomplishments?

To make other backup managers work now, with PL3 anyway, people have to alter their code to work with HIS payload... Does the word NAZI come to mind here for anyone else but me?

I mean seriously KaKaRoTo thanks for your works, but trying to tell everyone they need to follow one payload isn't like our community. This is a community that wants choices! Am I right? Sure we all want stuff that works, but we also want choice. There shouldn't be just one payload. There isn't just one CFW on PSP! I don't know sorry just a little rant...

My point is: we should have options... That's the point of homebrew! Having options we didn't have before!

well thats just awesome. i just switched to hermes too. pl3 seemed buggy(when booting it does not say done on my ti-84 like other payloads and the ps3 would detect my calc as unknown device even though it still worked.)

so does this mean if i never played the game on my hdd w/ hermes(yet) it will still work w/ pl3?

@zander there is a reason the pl3 doesnt work with older backupmanagers, why would u want to use them anyway they are outdated and do not have the features of the newer ones(especially 3.42 game compatibility). he created a new syscall to replace the old one, it happens, it is called progress. true he doesnt like the hermes payload but he has explained in detail why(without hate or malice), he is not some Nazi.

Arduino users, soon i will release a hex for arduino which lets you choose between PL3 and Hermes v4b with a switch, so you can use apps that use syscall36 and others that use syscall35, so if you were already using PL3, you will not have to re-install your games and updates, as you can change back to Hermes v4b.
