This has been available for a while now (ports of PL3 for rockbox) if you are having trouble with this one, download one of these...

Works on my 3.15 PS3 with IPOD 5G

For non-PL3 payloads:

1. power off your PS3.
2.
Turn off the switch in the back of your PS3 (or unplug the cable for slim consoles) and then flip it back on (or plug the cable back in for slim consoles).
3. Plug in you device via USB while its completely off.
4. Turn on you device into RockBox – PSGroove.
5. When you see the “RockBox boot image” immediately press “Power+Eject” buttons.

For PL3 payloads:
With PL3 payloads the timing between launching rockbox and pressing “Power+Eject” has changed.
You should do the same boot proccess, but the time you should press “Power+Eject” buttons has changed.

For example – if I have pressed “Power+Eject” with other payloads when rockbox loaded.
With PL3 I’m pressing “Power+Eject” as soon as I launch rockbox.

Also reported that with H10 devices you should wait about 5 minutes until you can press “Power+Eject”.

I had a lot of problems getting this running on my 5G Video, seemed like it only worked once in 10 tries, most of the time the PS3 would just hang on a black screen.
I found with Hermes I could leave my USB HDD connected, and it would still deliver the payload, with PL3 I have to disconnect every USB device, and only have the IPod connected, very frustrating.

Works every time for me on an ipod5g...

All I did was install rockbox, install the bootloader "IPL" it's called with the loader.bin "ipodpatcher.exe -ab loader.bin".

Modify your loader.cfg and place it on the root dir of your iPod. I have modified it to use 3 rockbox.ipod (with different names). The 3.15, 3.41 and original rockkbox.ipods in the /.rockbox/ dir (no need to duplicate rockbox installs).

Then when you power on your ps3 press the relevant hack on your ipod boot menu, then press power then press eject as fast as you can. Does not matter if there is a disc in the drive (on the fat at least).

Works every single time, just make sure you have the right hack (not using the 3.01 one on 3.15. That will just crash the ps3.

I've tried pressing power-eject at apple logo, at Rock initial load screen and after Rock has loaded.. I still get unknown device on ipod mini 2g. Can someone please explain exactly what you should be seeing on the ipod screen when you're supposed to press power+eject?
