Well after a troubled weekend where news wouldn't stop, and out of nowhere appeared downgrades master keys (although fakes) and jailbreaks, I decided to write this little post on the matter, as we know the psjailbreak team announced their downgrade some days ago, and have delivered (with some problems on the software side but they have delivered) the downgrader is indeed working and is real, but my "concern" here is the recent flood of downgrades, lets see:

- E3 team announces the downgrade for their product
- next day ps3break announces a downgrade
- then ps3key announces one too, followed by x3max

and i could go on here...

so the question here is have they from some divine coincidence found a downgrade method at the same time??? No don't think soo...
So what have they done then?? did they all got access to the downgrader from psjailbreak before? Psjailbreak payload was encrypted, did they all accomplish on decrypting it creating their own version???
Are cloners sharing information?? and making money not letting us, the scene have access to it by encrypting their firmwares.

This brings us to another problem which is the "war of the dongles", if this doesn't get decrypted and ported, or if people don't try hard to reverse engineer those dongles, we might end up on a war, buying a dongle for every thing we need, we need to jailbreak 3.50 we have to buy x3max, we need to downgrade we have to buy E3 card reader, now its not that bad, but imagine this in 6 months time??

So what is your take on this guys??

Well it's business and cloners will try to extract as much money as they can.
I think they know how to jailbreak 3.50 but then they would have to just release a software for their devices which means not much sale so instead they ask us to buy their dongles to downgrade.
I suspect that once this downgrade wave is finished then they would come with jb of latest fw so more sale.
I guess ps3 sales have picked up since September.

yeah but it doesn't make sense, if x3max announced the 3.50 jailbreak, and if the other cloners have it, they would surely announce it too right, following a pattern, of Clone A announces a feature, Every other will follow in the next few days.

Interesting pockets although I'm not sure why cloners would be sharing information with their competitor would that just be bad for business? I think probably someone manage to decrypt the downgrader from the PSJailbreak team and then goes off and sells the info to the cloners. I don't know though just my thoughts.

It surely must be it, now this is becoming a problem and this will be transformed in the decrypting scene, if we are going to get every feature, from different clones, we will end up having to turn our attentions into decrypting the payload from clones, instead of trying to hack the PS3.

Im just watchin the scene grow and having flashbacks to the old smart card tv days when I think it was northsat had the only fix for looped 99 cards then after a little time everyone had it. I am realy enjoying watching all this happen,keeps me entertained.
my old launch 60GB with bad blue ray laser(I will fix it sometime still plays ps2 and reg dvd) might have to turn into a debug and see what I can learn, I'm forty something years old and getting a new ps3 slim 160 bundle(ratchet and clank) and a Move for Chistmas kinda funny. Not sure what firmware is on it but I dont care by the time Christmas gets here who knows whats posible.
Enjoy the fun try and learn something. I wouldnt be surpised if all the best ps3 coders out there might get a nice job offer. Not that they would take it just saying.

All dongle brands are merged into one, PSJailBreak?
This could be a scheme from PSJailbreak to gain money from different
"types" of dongles at different prices. Having a wider range of dongles, all
doing the same job, but being sold at a higher price then others can allow
a larger profit.

If we think about the the making of the dongles. Importing of USB cases and all. Then that wouldn't be much of a matter. As USB cases can be brought at a cheap price from factories (I think).

I still firmly believe that the "original" source whoever they may be sell their information to the dongle makers.

The highest bidder gets it first etc.

Hence clones coming out before original psjb.
Its Good going to complete manufacturing before the original psjb even started lol.

This is all about who can afford to spend the most on aggressively advertising their product to secure preorders before the others get hold of their cheaper solutions.

It's their business and their decision but it's always going to be the same outcome. Buy sooner and spend more or just hang off a little and get an open source version.

I know a lot of people will be bashing me and saying how psjb are the original creators etc but their software, compatibility, service etc sucks hard (not what you would expect from the forefathers of the Jb/downgrade scene)
