Fact still is we want to run backups of our games on the MFW without a jailbreak dongle but I guess we'll just have to wait for someone to release a MFW that supports that

You are right, but it is still a double-edge sword. We can make our legal back-ups to our games, but if it is decided that we can no longer run the backup mamagers that play them, then we all have a bunch of copied disk that we own but no means to play them. Every game i back up is games i own and it is so much better to play them on a hard drive than constantly switching disk back and fowards. But pirated games is out there as well and few people does it, but the big picture of really hacking the ps3 is 10% want it for the homebrew, 10% want it for linux (which leads back to the same thing in my opinion), and the rest is for the backup play illegal or not.

@LionLester

lol, that was direct hit. but yeah I have to agree with blandx, people should stop being hypocrytical about this. atleast 85% percent of us wants this to play back ups legally/illegally. but i dont think you can blame everything on piracy for the game developers losing money. I think the preowned games play a big part of this also.

I think calling it Jailbroken is kinda confusing,i mean is Jailbreaking a technique or just a cool name thats been adopted,my assumption was that the only reason that name was used this time was because it was a phone hacker that hacked it and thats where ive always heard the term.Obviously if i am wrong and it is a specific hack like Jtag for example BUT if its just a term then its confusing lol as alot (well me anyways!) will assume it relates to using a dongle.

JAilbroken means the ps3 is free from the confines of its origin os. Now we can run our own code on it. Much like running your own code on ipod devices.
