definitely needs to be some sort of wrapper application to include all the required programs into one... I remember an app called XBMC skin editor myself. Although it never edited the boot images/animations. Just saying it would be awesome if there was an all in one "double click" GUI for this process. I suspect after time there will be.

i am currently doing this, when i am done I will compile all the files needed it and post them on rapidshare with a translated tutorial for beginners. I must say its pretty hard to work out some of the stuff said, so far I have unpacked the .raf and extracted the files, all gone smoothly.

Some stuff I would add:

-The coldboot.raf is located on dev_flash not dev_hdd0
-To remove the first 16 bits in winhex you must create a TEMP folder on your C:/ drive

thanks for the awesome work though :D

apparently this same method of extraction [removing the first 16 bits] also works on the qrc files in vsh\resource\qgl

for this section (unpacking):

1.Create a folder in your C Drive called bin.
2.In this place the p3textractor files (not in a folder, just in C:\bin) and the file you uncompressed in Symplzip
3.In Command prompt you will see
C:\users\(youraccountname)>

-Type cd\bin, this means go to c drive\bin
-then you will see C:\bin> in a new line

4.Type your command like so:

p3textractor coldboot_unpacked
[run the exe] [file to do to]

Then you can go to C:\bin and find the files you extracted

The Size of my repacked .zlp is 75KB? So it's bigger than the original one.
The sizes of my modified DDS are fine. I've selected "8 bbp Luminance and Grey Scale" in Photoshop.
Only the .zlp size is not the same as the original.

What am I doing wrong?

//Edit: You have to describe the PhotoShop Part in detail. Because of this part my .zlp file is bigger than the original.
