Are you able to play ps1 & ps2 games on the 40gig model?

hi ppl just want to say thanks for having me. flicked through the forum and looks very interesting all though dont really know much . I have decided to get a ps3 insted of an xbox but which ps3 console sud i invest in the 40gb or the 60gb. by doing a bit of reading you can upgrade the hard-drive on the 40gb but

I'm not to sure if you can play ps1+2 games on it. so would be grateful if ppl can shed a bit of light for me. but for now im going too do some more reading up on wot else the ps3 is capable of, thanks

you cna run ps1 gameso n 40 gig version but not ps2
