Hope for OtherOS back?
Legal way, perhaps?
 I've won with Sony before, they fixed my YLOD out of warranty. Although this case was due to the goods not conforming to standard.

of course it won't be back! unfortunately, sony ireland doesn't call the shots! do you think they will do a special firmware for that user??? they won't! anyway, otherOS back wait for graf, or marcan, for a dual booting system, or use it now from the usb pen drive using bootOS and some tools provided by the scene, thanks to kmeaw.

There is a legal dispute between IBM and SONY supposedly that made them withdraw OtherOS, as IBM CELL processor nodes cost 10x the price and does not really perform 10x better compared to a PS3.
