Swap X & O Button (to confirm) on JAP Console
Hi,
ever since Pandora´s Box has been opened i am waiting for this kind of homebrew (and i remember back in the PS2 Days, there was something similar): I own a launch JAP PS3. Now, the JAP Console (contrary to the US or EU ones) does use the O button for confirm and the X button vor cancel. This is very anoying, as some games use the default PS3 settings while others use their own. If you also play on friends PS3´s where the button setting is the other way, you will be constantly pushing the wrong button to confirm (as i do). So, as the system is so much open: Would it be possible with some Homebrew App / CFW to switch the default confirm button from O to X on a JAP console? |

Grab the xRegistry.sys editor from the bottom of the page here...
http://ps3wiki.*************.com/ps3...le_Format.html Then FTP into your ps3 and grab a few copies of /dev_flash2/etc/xRegistry.sys (make sure you save afew backups as if you get something wrong you'll need to restore a backup). Then open the xRegistry.sys in the editor previously downloaded, and find the line /setting/system/buttonAssign Highlight it and edit the middle field in the right hand pane from 00000000 to 00000001 and click the save button, then choose file save then file exit. (You need to save it twice else your changes wont be saved). Ftp the file back to your ps3 overwriting the existing xRegistry.sys, and restart your ps3. The button should now be switched

thx, really appreciate the help! One Question though: Does that permanentely switch the X & O button or just the default confirm setting of XMB? Cuz i just want the later, the first case would be horrible for all gameplay. Last edited by nicop; 03-28-2011 at 05:58 AM. |

You'll need a jailbroken/cfw'd ps3 obviously, but it will do the trick
