I was curious as well about one point mostly, and it may be the fact that English is not your first language, but it reads as if no OtherOS means that Sony would have had to sell the consoles at a much higher price? I may be wrong, but like I said, was a wee bit hard to understand.

Ahhhhhh. That is not what we class as the PIN. The PIN here is the 4 digit code you enter when getting money from an ATM for eample, and like I said if someone has the details that seem to have been in the account records then it is possible to get a new PIN within 2 to 3 days.

There's a PIN number for credit/debit cards. Usually between 4-8 digits long.

And then there's the CC security # on the back. Which is 3 digits.

When the OtherOS have full Hardware acces the PS3 stop sale as Console and must sale as POWERPC
But i try to say they exist low about the TAXIS on Consoles and PCs
That because the Other Os run in Virtual enviroment under Hypervisor Monitor and you donh have full acces.
If is possible to have full acces then the PS3 turn to a PowerPC like the IBM clusters and must the Law about Monopoly etc examine the price of PS3.
The case is complicated ,from one side is that i say about Console and PowerPC,envolve IBM because US Army buy thousend PS3 to create clusters and IBM dont like that,second is someone agreement between IBM Sony about the use of the CPU.
You cant sell as IBM a product to SONY and SONY hit your Companie(IBM)with sale this product.

Sigh the thing is, Sony needs to embrace the hacker community instead of use the dmca to extort us. Its understandable that piracy is bad, but this is hardly an issue about piracy, nobody loses money from piracy, not when you make an outrageous profit anyways. In fact piracy only makes a game more popular. The bigger user base a game has, the more its talked about, the more likely someone is going to go out and buy the game. If a game is worth taking the time and hard drive space to pirate, 10 people will probably buy it. 10:1 ratio is pretty damn good if you ask me.

Honestly most people dont want to invest the time to download games. Most people cant, because they live in a country with a download limit. The real reason sony doesnt want you to hack your ps3, is because

A. They cant force developers to pay the outrageous license fees for their software develop tools if a cheaper alternative is found, psl1ght. B. They are in bed with IBM and otherOS linux and ps3 clusters are a much cheaper server alternative compared to the Cell processor servers, something IBM doesnt want to happen at all. And at the time sony got rid of otherOS they were losing money for ps3s. If everyone bought 50 ps3s to build a super cluster, they would be out of thousands of dollars.

C. If homebrew was allowed to coexist PSN Store Indie would fill up with cheap games that devalue major games, something software devs definitely dont like, as Reggie Fils-Aime always barks out at every nintendo press conference.

Everyone is mad at sony, and think this is all their fault. And while it is, its also your fault for putting so much trust in a company who you couldnt sue even if you wanted. They have billions of dollars and the best lawyers in the world. They could sit there and appeal and appeal for years.

People also need to realize the internet is a network of millions of interconnected computers, and server infrastructures are tens of thousands of lines of code. One little mistake and your entire security could be compromised.

They should only be held responsible for the fact that they challenged the hackers and bragged about themselves. Things like "it only does everything", "the ps3 is also a computer", and "the ps3 is unhackable and the cell processor is the most advanced cpu in the world". These are things that make people want to challenge them. The hackers get off on this kind of crap. Present a challenge to a hacker and they will find a way to conquer you. Embrace the hackers, sony. Take a profit hit for once. And perhaps you will avoid **** like this in the future. Quit pissing them off.
