Also regarding lay offs. All major devs do it after major projects, as they take on extra staff to complete projects. Then lay off the excess when project completes. This is common practice.

For Sony only the share-holders are important. They forget their customers made them who they are today, not the share-holders. Without customers the share-holders will leave asap.

I also think it may be an inside job. If Soyn could not afford to keep otheros on the PS3 how are they managing free online gaming? Of course psn also brings in some from sales, but when you look at the new ToS section 15 clearly states they can change the agreement which includes introducing a fee to create accounts.

As this was before the hack they most likely were going to bring in the idea od a fully paid for psn slowly. But now they have a brilliant excuse to bring it in immediately and use the excuse that the new "secure" servers cost more to maintain and hence cannot offer free gaming any more. The gullible will believe it and pay up.

Why else "compensate" people with a trial offer of PSN+. This is why I say we should all be demanding a xbox :P The PS3 is now dead!
