I will do one of two things:

1) Buy the console when it's hacked, as long as it still costs Sony money for each unit sold.
2) Not buy it.

I expect another PS3, only with more insane control over how you use the system - all games requiring PSN access (with ALL your personal info) to work, 100x the emphasis on microtransactions, absolutely no linux, some moronic proprietary BD format, no support for any third-party controllers, rootkit from the start, and so on. There will be another major security oversight that leads to system hacking, but nobody will care and the PS4 hack scene will be full of "meh."

Eat a bag of hell, Sony.

*edit* The security on it will be suffocating to the point that it hinders legitimate users on a daily basis.

meh.

@JugMuffin:

You are a complete tool. Sony has *EVERY* right to more security and if you honestly expected it to be so bad that it "suffocates" legitimate users then so be it. I'd rather know that my personal information isn't being passed around on some dvd-r in some ukranians basement just waiting to get sold off as a spam list. It's bad enough that people even tried several times to steal ****. What's even worse is that most people expect it to be open with cfw, but they want more security. So let's break it down:

I want CFW.

I want Security.

But wait I still want CFW.

...but I still want more security.

The problem lies in the fact that we even have cfw! Someone had to break the security of the system in order to figure out how to get cfw running in the first place--so anyone who is complaining about that is just as ignorant as the OP I responded to.

One last point I want to put out there, is you will never see upgradeable internal components in a console. If you truly feel like it will happen, you are a complete idiot and you should just stop buying consoles. They have traditionally never been meant for consumers to open and mess with because everything inside is in a proprietary format. It saves them money that way and it keeps people out of them so they can offer you a damn warranty. If you want to mess with something, go mess with your pecker.

I now wait for the 15 year olds to start flaming me.

warning

Warning

No flaming, thank you

What you'll get. More of the same, but possibly in 1080p.

Probably the same price.

Anywhere between $500-$600

Anywhere near $700+ will scare people away from it so quick. Besides, like I said, if someone's going to pay $700+ on a console, they might as well get a gaming PC and Sony knows it.

@arishay

I support CFW for one reason.....We can create our own code and execute it!

So, in my opinion....
If Sony gave us a development/homebrew sandbox to play in, then there would be no reason for CFW! And they can tighten their security as much as they want... As the only people that would want to breach their security would be either thieves or pirates!

Regardless if they support homebrew or not, people will still play in the sand.....
Embrace It Sony! Then, it will actually not be so hard to see who the bad guys really are..

for $700 if you DIY you can build a decent gaming rig!!! I only have $540 into my pc and it is a beast. What i put in mine, when assembled retails on sites like ibuypower and cyberpowerpc for over $850 and that's bare bones and some parts aren't even as nice as mine. the mark up on them is crazy.

For a console to cost more than $400 in my opinion is totally insane, but you will have crazy people who will pay that to be raped by sony. it's sad really. if it costs more than 400 no way in hell can sony get me to buy it!! i'll wait to get one used

It be nice if they let you have all your paid psn games and content on ps4 no charge.
Also a proper upscaler for ps1 2 games. Hell make the ps4 have a usable upscaler via a hub rca, vga ,component. output via hdmi 1080p

something like this but the ps4 does all the work. Something the ps3 cell could do.
