You can backup your old HDD on an external drive by going under the settings tab. Then install your new HDD and then copy your stuff over from your old HDD. When you put your new HDD in it will tell you to format and install a firmware on it, i suggest you to 3.55 OFW (or if you're on 3.41 then go to 3.41 OFW and then rejailbreak) and then rejailbreak your console, it's just a little bit safer.

u need bdemu2 and need to set MM to use the hermes payload for game caching..Make sure u restart

i have 27gb internal left and can just cache to internal to play and then deleate the cash if i want to play another game...

first split the game with split4g using the 666 option..
then copy to external hdd...
then change MM to use hermes payload and restart ps3

now try and play the split game MM will ask to cash some files, not all of em and should run fine from external....

u can cache as many split games as u like if u have the space...
i dont so if i want to play gt5 or la noire. i will got to MM xmmb and press the deleate game cache option...

now go to another split game and cache it and play

that could be great too. save the time and work to open up the ps3 and change the hdd. but i want to have the luxury to save few games thats my favor in the ps3 instead of having to port it from ftp or external hdd every time when i wanna switch another game lol
************* [ - Post Merged - ] *************
another question, what version will my ps3 be if i take out the hdd? or would it just go blank and i have to start over again?
