Yes you can use a OFW PS3 to play lan games via Xlink. The only mods that happen to the PS3 are to do with the network settings. No CFW needed there

If you could please enlighten me as to how to install it on the PS3 or is it in the OP and what settings would I have to mod on the PS3 to play on this network? I'm guessing this entails resetting my network settings and if so what would I set them to? Thanks for your help to this noob!

@Android step 9 in the 1st post is the only step taken on the PS3. You actually dont do anything since the PS3 will make the changes for you. I dont think it would affect your PSN settings either since you would need to unplug the ethernet cable from the PC and back into your router for PSN mode and the PS3 would automatically search for connection again(maybe just a game or console reboot).

As long as everything is setup properly on your PC side and with your router you cant go wrong.

Seeing as this is a sticky now, I reckon it'd be good to have all the info in one spot.. Any chance you could give more detail on that route tastyratz? I've got dd-wrt v24 on my router now, was checking out "Xbox Kaid" under the Services tab, but what else do we need to do? The only tutorial I could find regarding dd-wrt was for use with the PSP or XBMC and kinda confused me more..
