Help installing Linux with Petitboot (System is going down now...)

Ive been trying to install Linux onto my Slim PS3... using the OtherOS++ FW, and the prep and boot tools from Rebug. Everything seems to have worked fine up to this point...

I have petitboot installed, it runs fine and it recognizes both my Ubuntu and Debian discs (tried both just to make sure, and yes, theyre the PS3 ones)... But whenever I make any selection - install, install_nosplash, etc - It starts to load (says BOOTING at the bottom) but then I get a black screen saying "System is going down now..." with my PS3 hanging there until I unplug it.

Ive also tried using the old method, including the lvl2 patcher, but it still gave me the same result.

Is there anything im missing? Im trying to get it to install onto my external HDD (I dont want to, and wont wipe my internal). I have an EXT3 partition ready for the installation, but I have room on the FAT32 section if I need to use it. Why is my system going down?

Yes I deleted 6 > deleted 5 > created 5 > deleted 6.
I didnt delete 7 cause that wipes the internal hdd.

No one else has this problem? Is something wrong with my petitboot, or something im doing/not doing?

I highly doubt both my PS3 distros are bad, they read fine. Ill try another one to be sure but... any help in the meantime would be amazing.
