Fat32formatter FTW much easier than everything above! Google it it's free.

I just got a WD 3TB External Hard drive and i used Guiformat and it everything seem right it say's Fat32 format and all but when i got to my ps3 it never shows up? not in Multiman or nothing please help going ****ing crazy

The version of the hard drive is WD my book Essential 3TB External hard drive if this matters?

its says it is usb3.0+usb2.0 Compatible

That could be purely a size issue as I seem to recall the PS3 can struggle with the larger drives. I assume it is seen and useable on your PC?

Also is it a powered drive or does it take it's power from the USB connection?

i think the ps3 has a limit on ext hdd size of like 1.5tb or 2tb

yes it shows up on my computer at 2.73tb formatted to FAT32 named ps3 but my and it gets its power from a Ac adapter

I tried for just the hell of it to partion the hard drive for just 2tb formatted to fat32 and that still did not work ether hmmmm

Ok update i changed and got a Seagate 2tb External Hard drive and Formatted it to Fat32 and it works like a champ! no problems or anything works perfect! thanks allot again guys
