using 3.15 downgraded ,petitboot wont let me install otheros redribbon,(it hangs)

so i want to ger rid of petitboot ,tried format,resetting,attaching hard disk to pc and formatting from there but petitboot still there

can it be removed ?

also why petitboot wont let my os game os boot when pressing backspace ?and why it isn't letting redribbon boot ?

Reflash OFW 3.15 and it should clear petitboot off your system. As for your other Q's, I only started using Linux on 3.55, sorry bro.

will try that in this moment,by the way anybody know about a boot loader and a linux distro that both can boot on sdtv,petitboot only display on hdmi,but i need to use my sdtv,thanks

o_O That's odd. It removed it on 3.55 for me... Might be because it's actually disabled fully on my fw though... You could try upgrading to a 3.55 non-OtherOS++ FW if you want to just do away with Linux entirely, or go with the QA flag firmware so you can ensure you can revert to 3.15 easily should 3.55 not give you the options you're looking for.

That said, I'm pretty sure RRLinux will work on 3.55 OtherOS++ capable FW, so hopefully 3.55 will provide you with an all-around stable compromise. Also, you'd be able to just stick with Petitboot, and thus save a bit of effort.

i tried pdaxrom , same problem as petitboot ,they wont boot gameos ?anyone got an explanation ?thanks

How did you reflash?


The graf_kernel of the Red Ribbon distro is optimized (with HV patches) for 3.41 and 3.55. I think 3.15 is to low causing your problems.

petitboot is always able to start,but only one time displyed on my sdtv16:9(800x480) other times only started on hdmi,wonder why,in any case it was unable to boot gameos.

as for pdaXrom that i prefer ,displays without hdmi & recognizes wireless pad,but wont boot gameos and it wont recognize sd cards or usb sticks although on the author website is displaying them,why,why,why?

any clue on whats happening ?

Ok, you used QA flagging I understand, haven't been into that this weekend, had some other stuff on my mind. No experience with that for now, sorry.

For the BD drive, when I installed Linux (some different distro's) I always have problems with the BD drive. Only when I start petitboot from GameOS with the boot_otheros pkg it works ok. When I use the "recovery mode" combo to get into petitboot and start it from there I get errors at the scrolling text screen. Funny thing is my external USB BD drive works perfect, also with petitboot startup

Again, I don' think it is possible to run graf his kernel (implanted in Red Ribbon) on a lower firmware as 3.41. Haven't tested that though.
