For those who don't know who I am, I'm the dev for OpenPStore, which I hope you know what it is.

It would be hard to think of everything I have already said on other forums, though I'll try my best to say it all here too:

First of all, I'd like to claify the "brick feature". It's intention is not to afraid people nor to just brick PS3 because we feel like doing it. Just imagine JFW is working on X PS3 model and the tester decides to leak the beta. Another person with model Y might install it and eventually get a brick.
Do you think that he will acuse the leaker? Everyone would blame DH and JFW, and you know it.
It has been decided to implement this feature just because we want to avoid situations like that one.
If everything goes fine, as it is already going and will go, you will never again in your life hear about this "anti-leak feature".
Moreover, if someone leaked a beta, you have nothing to worry about unless you install the leaked beta. So, please, stop
So, I don't think we should be talking about this, it's just pointless.
I hope that everything surrounding the beta-testers and anti-leak feature is clear now.

What else could i say...

JFW will be first released with Spanish and French support. Don't ask me when English support will come because I have no idea. If it was for me, it would have English from the first moment.

OpenPStore, The Grid and "built in homebrew" will be exclusive for JFW. That means that trying to use them on an other cfw will result in nothing. Also, all homebrew downloadable from OpenPStore will be exclusive too.
The reason is simple: As you know JFW has got modified categories. Homebrew downloaded from OpenPStore will auto-install to its own correct category. Using OpenPStore or its downloads on an other cfw would result in something like having an emulator on the music category.
(I don't completely agree with this exclusivy thing... but by now, it will be like this)

That thing about exclusivity makes me talk about the "JFW Compatible Homebrew Stamp". It is a certificate that JFW homebrew will have. It asssures that the homebrew is 100%, meets all requierements and auto-install where it have to.

I have also been asked who this "exclusivity check", to know whether you are running the homebrew from JFW or not, makes any "extern" connection. The answer is simple: no.

More questions I answered are:
- Will JFW code be available after some time passes?
As far as I know it will be released the code to make plugins for The Grid. For those who don't know what The Grid is, it is an application which runs from background at any time, enabling you to use "plugins" while using other homebrew or even games.

- Will OpenPStore be open source?
Until JFW final release is made public it won't. Once that comes, OpenPStore will eventually go open source. I don't know when.
Keep an eye to:
https://bitbucket.org/blipi/openpstore
Which is its private repository. You will sooner or later be able to see the source.

I think I've already said it all, though I don't really know, but I'll gladly answer any more question you have.

Just of interest bud, is there any reason why you what to do it a hard way? when mfw builder makes it very easy to create your own firmware and it tells you if something is wrong, and you have a nice way of changing the tcl's to your liking and let the mfw do its stuff, don't mind me asking bud.

You got that backwards MFW builder pups are 100% stable unless you have no clue what you are doing on the other hand, the modification you can make by hand by yourself are suspect. IMO use MFW Builder unless you are trying to make a brick. also if you need to have your hand held to make a non MFW builder firmware it is obviously not for you

I hope you didn't mind me asking, but to get someone to talk you though it, was a bit open ended what can you not edit with mfw-builder, can you explain? the reason i am asking is mfw-builder as fantastic as it is, is only a gui that runs tcl scrips that simply unlock files find and replace code re-lock and save out, all from commands in the tcl's and with debug. if you or i did it the way you wish to be guided would end up with a bricked ps3, unless you can debug your pups before installing. mfw-builder can do anything you wish with a pup, its the lack of tcl's to do the job's we wish.

one more thing what are you trying to change that you think mfw-builder cant?
