Ring up Sony and tell them you was happy playing gt5 for months on your ps3, and then you went to play a new game that needed 3.60 to play, so you did the upgrade only to find it will not start, and your really pissed because its a family one and was used a lot. Tell them your a single mum and the school holls is driving you made with no ps3 and no money, tell them its their fault because it worked before and you demand a free replacement, keep trying till you get a replacement and you will get one. then send back without hard drive because thats yours as it has your privet data on it. In the uk the post man dose the swap so you have the new one the same day as you send the other one back.

Agree Bud, but he gets a ps3 that works, with respect to him he did say he mixed up the pups when trying to downgrade and I think sadly he has got upgraded to 3.56 or above, or he is locked out on 3.56 or above. If he downloaded pups recently its likely they have been swapped.

I have not found any myself not that i have looked, but after trying what he did to get it working should of worked so i think the quickest way to get a replacement is ring sony. he could all ways sell it and go to a second had shop and pick one up thats likely to be below 3.56, but if not don't buy it.

Yeah the only problem is that I have no warranty. But the single mom stuff sounds good :P I'm currently soldering to get my teensy ++ 2 working with NORway I'm half way through only soldering tiny ps3 pads is a b*tch with a 5mm soldering bolt when the soldering target is atleast 5x smaller. I'll probally fail horrible and then I'll call sony and nag them into sending me a ps3 :P.

Nope the PUP I installed was a special one for downgrading through service mode. Problem being though that I was doing a qa flag downgrade and installed the special PUP designed for a dowgrade board it locked me out. I had used the PUP before as I said in one of the first post regarding the HDD problem and it worked no problem. And yeah if I cant nag sony into sending me one I'll buy a PS3 slim from a mait Maybe sony is gonna sue me just like they did with people who sold their psp's :P

As long as you don't install Linux, you should be pretty safe from Sony lawsuits.

I reckon all they will do is send it to the scrap pile and send you a new one as its unlikely the guys/girls that work there are that interested looking at it without the drive that you didn't send back

Joking aside they will put up a fight on the phone because they are being recorded and told too, but most would loved to just send you a new one and move on to the next call, their just like us getting on with their day, and so is the goods in lot, well most are like this most days.

if your concerned of them looking at the board and trying to see what it was doing before the crash is unlikely and not cost affective to them when they have a very large stock pile, and the truth of the matter is their not interested from what i have been told from the a tech that contracts to them, and i tend to believe him.

If you wish just apply some 12volts from a car battery charger, clipping the black to the ground and dragging the red across the pcb and blow some chips. maybe wait till bonfire night and then do it. the kids will love your new sparkler.

This sounds like a format issue, did you do a full format fat 32 if so then there may be a problem with the connectors also is there a jumper on the hdd? if so try to move it slot by slot and test each time. if you can i would try another hdd, this may just be a faulty hdd. hope you get it fixed.

Yes everything works perfectly with the original disk. If I put a other hardisk in though I cannot access anything the HDD indicator is not flashing its just on without any interuptions so I conclude that there is no communucation whatsoever with the HDD. And again whatever I do I can't get into recovery menu. I can get into recovery menu with my original disk in though. Thanks for taking the time to reply [/QUOTE]
