You will need Progskeet (obviously), a soldering iron, solder, wires, and patience.I'm just assuming as they haven't released any tutorials yet.

for the time being, it will be hardware related. meaning opening up your ps3. But i hope later in time (probably after a few months) it will be software.

Man, this would be revolutionary if there was a way to do it by softmodding.

Few questions from a noob
In order to downgrade solderlessly using software would i still need a Progskeet chip? how would it work exactly?
Also how long do you think the software version would come after the hardware one?

Thanks for the news and great work to you guys, thinking about our poor updated ps3's

You can't do it just by software. You need the Progskeet chip, but there is a solderless version on horizon so it minimizes hassle but you still have to open up your PS3 and be capable of messing with electronics.

As to how long until a software only fix, all I can say is do what you are doing and keep watching the boards as if/when it comes it will get posted in HUGE letters

Uhm, in most countries it's illegal to actually do this kind of modding type as a service, ToS has nothing to do with it..

this is great news, but for 99% of the people who updated it isn't relevant because they cannot do the hardware modification needed (also I wonder if the latest PS3 models have a safety against this kind of modding). So maybe adding a big warning in the newspost might be a way to prevent a lot of 'noobs' asking how to do this downgrading..
