A few questions...

Hi, I have some avi's that won't play on the ps3...I have other avis that play fine, just some that don't... probably converting the files agian myself would probably work.
Question 1: Edit: What program is good for telling me how the avi was encoded?
Question 2: Any other methods of fixing besides re-converting?

Also:
I know that ps3 proxy is said to not work with 2.10 firmware... but... its also believed to work with demos. I tried to use it for demos but when i run the program ON THE PC: It gives me the ip and port, i setup my ps3 connection to use the proxy, and then click ok but i don't get a gui program closes and then nothing... check tsk mgr and its running but no gui....

I would like to know:
1)can ps3 proxy be used for demos?
2)where's my gui?

Edit: I have another question... Lots of links in the forums seem to not work... they just lead me to the main page... anyone else experience this? is it normal, have admins blocked those links or they don't exist any more???

THank you. UnRidaz.

Question 1 - on your ps3, hover over the video that doesnt play, press triangle, go to information, scroll all the way down, and it should tell you the video and audio codec.

Question 2 - get TVersity if you have a router (media server). it converts videos on the spot as you click on them.

side note - PS3 Video 9 is possibly the best converter as it is perfectly set up for ps3, and even supports things like MKV.

Thanks for the 'information' trick... The file that won't play shows up as a DivX @ 928kbps. audio is mp 111kbps. Resolution is 608 x 320; size is 701 mb.... but no dice on playback... any reasons why the ps3 says its unsupported?

i had the same problem and i havent resolved it hehe, it says DviX but if you download a utillity called GSpot it tells u the actual codec and i bet it will be xvid which the ps3 doesnt support so converting or streaming is ur only option
