is no one bothered by the fact they are selling cobra dongles instead of just releasing the hex for the scene to enjoy?

I understand wanting to be compensated for hardwork but if that is the case then they need to get a real job. I dont think homebrew should be for sale. You do Homebrew because you love to code and help people, not to sell Sony's Proprietary code for profit! That is criminal, no?? Oh well, Soft Modded PS2 is the way to go for PS2 backups and cheaper too.

yeah i hear it has great compatability with backed up blurays so i believe it is a great product that offers alot and i would love to use it but i dont think i could bring myself to order it. I have a teensy++2.0 that will be waiting for the day when this code is recreated and released for free.

Yes you can, you can run any iso from any of the formats supported except PS2 games, currently.

lol, yes it does but I have never had any reason to try it...plus I am 99% sure that was only for users on 3.55 wishing to downgrade to 3.41 whereas I purchased this on 3.55 CFW and simply installed their own CFW over it.

Thanks for your comments and I totally recommend getting a 3.55 PS3 just for this dongle if you can get a 3.55 PS3 and the dongle itself for a good price. If your 1st-choice PS3 is on 3.55 then you should definetly get the dongle.

I plainly ripped my PAL copy, booted it, loaded up fine, drove around for literally 2 mins for the first mission and then quit as I never play the PS2 version as I just play San Andreas on my Xbox but I'll do some further testing with this.

Oh and just some updates to other games due to further testing:

HUGE title not working on PAL 60gb PS3s and that is both the NTSC and PAL versions of Gran Turismo 4. When I tested this title briefly and had it "working" on my list is because everything loaded up fine from intro, video intro FMV, memory card installation I didn't think a game of this magnitude would not work via Cobra but I was wrong. I decided to play this classic the other night and both versions hang at the spinning clock loading screen for BOTH versions. PS3 doesn't crash however, just keeps having the spinning animation for loading going on forever just like the PAL version of Rayman Revolution.

Now for a more minor but still hugely annoying Cobra issue is within Rayman 2 on PSX. Upon gaining more than 90% of all the yellow lums you get to unlock the exclusive Rayman 2 beta bonus level which is one of the main motivations to complete the game on that console. The crappy thing is, is that the PAL version hangs on the loading screen for that bonus level crashing the PS3 completely that it demands a power-off. However, I popped in my original copy and yep, it works fine. Complete Cobra issue and pretty annoying for those with a sealed copy/no original copy.

Really hope these issues mentioned in this thread and others are fixed because yes I and others didn't expect this product to be flawless but damn, GT4 not working at ALL for PAL system owners? Hell no.

no disrespect Glitch, but i was just bamboozled by the Persian McSalesmen.

Thank you brah. Gliitch's review is fine, it's just that I had more time with the Cobra than he did as I had very similar gripes with it at first especially with PSX iso's/bin+cue files.

Persian McSalesman LMFAO! Nah man I'm not here to sell anything, I do like the product but some of the issues I have outlined and criticised have annoyed the crap out of me. But for every 1 bad thing the Cobra does it does 99 things awesomely well so I'm more than satisfied as is everyone else I've seen who has purchased this device.

A wise choice sir, you shall be happy with your purchase.

Peace.

Try the NTSC version, of the game. I found that the NTSC version of Rouge Galaxy didnt work - (bad cue file) So i tried the PAL version of it, boots and runs, also it gives you the options to make it NTSC format anyway :D

The NTSC copy is the one that I have been trying, I'm asking him to check out the pal version.

also I couldn't get san Andreas NTSC to show up as a bin cue file. Which is more reliable, bin or ISO? Also what program would you suggest to convert it?

No I mean it limits multiMAN. Using Cobra firmware multiMAN will not work properly when trying to play games off your external hard drive. 9 out of 10 will not work. You are forced to use the slow navigation of the Cobra Loader.

that seems to be the pattern. All of my ps1 backups are bin cue and all of my ps2 backups are ISO.

also I'm going to test my external games with multiman and get back to you about that
