hey no problem. if you decide later that you want online all you have to do is go back to official firmware then you can update it. but be ware if you decide you want your custom firmware back the only way you will be able to get it back will be with a hardware flasher witch requires soldering. as far as the hdd goes, i would recomend a 1tb external so that you have plenty of room. the games are anywhere from 5gigs to 40 gigs. hope that helps.

Thanks very much for the reply mate . I didnt realise the games were that big lol. I wasnt sure if they were like the wii games when backed up to a hdd most of them shrink loads.
Is there an app that allows backup blurays to be played aswell?

yes its called multiMAN and you can find a tutorial in my siganture that will walk you thru the whole process. or you can just go to the first post in this thread.

Hi just began to try this tonight but I cant get ps3 to update in recovery menu. It just says no aplicable data was found. I had the file structure correct as checked it loads. Can I do this from the xmb menu? Also do you think my usb drive isnt compatible . I formated it to fat32 before i started.
any advice is apreciated.
PS I am on 3.40 ofw

did you update to 3.55 official firmware first? also yes you can do this from the xmb if it will let you.

Hi mate I am trying to update to the ofw first but ps3 wont seem to find files on recovery menu. I will try on xmb if i can and get back in a min.

Hi mate I had the file structure correct I checked 20 times lol. I have just tried a different memory stick and it has read it first time. I am updating to OFW as we type lol I will let you know how i get on in a few mins.
