Wow, this thread should be archived for posterity, because when the ps3 scene does inevitably collapse and die you will be able to refer back and see exactly the reasons why.

I cannot actually believe the immaturity here. I'm no innocent i've pirated stuff since the days of the amstrad cpc, and i don't believe piracy kills consoles or anything else. However to read an abundance of comments about hating sony and hoping they are hacked again is only going to end in tears.

In my eyes the "scene" needs to sort itself out, hacking psn or Sony or anybody else will help nothing, infact it will exacerbate the situation, repeated attacks will lead to tighter TOS not looser ones, Sony have every right to try to protect their investment.

You cannot use restrictive TOS as an excuse, firstly if you have CFW it doesn't apply to you as your warranty is already void and you will get no official support, no different to if i was to put high powered coolant in my refrigerator.

We are screwed by much bigger forces than Sony on a daily basis, everyday the cost of runnig my car gets higher, insurance has almost doubled in the last 2 years and that's with a no claims bonus! Petrol prices are at an all time high as is fuel duty, yet oil prices are now sliding. The cost of gas and elecricity recently rose by around 20% even though wholesale gas is cheaper than last year. VAT is at 20% and food and grocery prices are still rising as well. If i get cancer the quality of my treatment depends on my postcode. University fees will be ridiculous from next year, etc. etc. It's so depressing i need to get drunk, but i cant afford it because tax on alcohol is so high :D

Hackers need to come into the real world and stop worry about a few words from an elecrical manufacturer. If they were really 133t they would drop the chasing of soft targets like sony and chase the big industries and expose the fraud and price fixing and government collusion that most likely goes on. And therein lies the immaturity of some people, clearly to them a console is more important than real life issues.

And before anyone starts *****ing and moaning, this post is not aimed at the devs who are developing homebrew, CFW other other stuff to enhance the PS3 experience it is solely aim at the "hackers" and those who hold them in such high esteem.

I just love the scene because of Homebrew
PSN was hacked bcoz of their bad luck
Atleast they care for customers more than any other console company
They r releasing exclusives of every genre
Sold consoles at lost for almost 4 years
Online is totally free
Stable Hardware

Idk, the user acct that released that video doesn't match the anon one, not only that, according to the video, they said that they were "ddos" the servers because of the pay to play crap Sony was starting to do for used games, but you'd think anonymous would be smart enough to know that companies like THQ, EA, and Warner bros have already been doing so. Anon is a lot smarter than that, this video seems flawed to me.

You may mock the guy but in some ways he is right, as things currently are there are no other real competitors for Microsoft, Nintendo's target market has always been the casual gamer and the family market, this will never change. For the more mature gamer a Microsoft stranglehold on the console market just like the PC market would not necessarily be a good thing. The situation with the PC OS market nowadays means that it is not financially viable to even try to compete, yes there is linux and Mac and a few other various OS's around but none can compete when it comes to the quality and depth of the commercial software available.

With no mass market competition to Microsoft where would we be? Open source consoles have tried and failed to make a dent in the market and the current financial situation in the world means many big multi national companies would think twice about investing in a business where there is an underground element seeking to sabotage its profit making.

Like it or not gaming losing Sony would not be in the best interest of the consumer.

I see all these comments in this thread about why we "SHOULDN'T" hate Sony, but in reality those who hate sony are probably right. The haters hate sony NOT because they want to bring sony down, no , they hate sony because sony is pissin' them off. What the haters want is to have hombrew and also use the online features, but sony won't allow that, and so the soar will continue to fester. The non-haters are the ones who really don't care about homebrew, the non-haters are ready to tolerate whatever comes at them from sony. I don't think haters are what some are trying to portrait them as, they are merely people who want more for the longevity of the PS3 , and this is not to be mistaken with the longevity of sony itself.
