PS3 doesn't read DISC after new blu-ray
Guys,
A friend of mine bought a used PS3 that was broken. The owner told him it was the blu-ray that wasn't working annymore. Since i got a little bit more brains for this kind of stuff he asked me to help him fixing it. So i opened the PS3 and the blu-ray by using movies on Youtube. Then i discovered that several parts were missing in the blu-ray. So waiting to order new parts for the blu-ray i tried it with my own blu-ray. This one is complete and is fully working on my PS3. Both PS3's are 40 gig phat models. I installed my own fully working blu-ray in the PS3 of my friend and tried to launch him. The PS3 starts correct but when i enter a disc i hear the blu-ray working but the game doesn't appears in the XMB under GAME. I used my own cable to connect the blu-ray to the PS3 so it can't be the cable or the full blu-ray because it's still working for my own PS3. Does annybody know what the problem can be? Hopefully someone can help me. thx in advance |

So that should be the problem then? And i only can solve this by using other parts from a blu-ray drive and put them in the original blu-raystation from the ps3 that is broken. |

P.S. be weary of experimenting with your BD parts and adding them to his. I personally messed up the eject on one of my functional drives and could not get it aligned until recently. Several attempts with many hours. I might be a pendejo about it though so just be careful... EDIT: I noticed you said you didn't swap the motherboard, make sure you do not swap the BD controller board that is attached on the bottom of the BD Player.

in order to play game you need to have the controller board from your blu-ray drive, you have to put it into the new bluray drive or it wont work
