So if I am understanding u correctly then yes this is possible. So for clarification let's say u have a 60gb ylod with a working bd drive and a working bd controller board and u also have a 40gb ps3 with a nonworking bd controller board and/ or nonworking bd drive. U can remarry the working 60gb bd drive and board with the 40gb motherboard. I have not tested this but I have read it's possible. Now in Ur particular case u have an additional obstacle to overcome since the hypothetical 40gb is on 3.66 because 3.55 and lower is the firmware required to do the remarry process. U would first have to downgrade then remarry.

thanks for the bad news i guess. now I HAVE to find the money for the E3 downgrade kit. oh well, at least I have demo's and PSN downloads, better than no gaming at all.
