Aaaarrrggh! Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me...lol. Yep I said it and I don't mind. I've spent thousands upon thousands in the gaming industry since I bought my first Atari back in the early 80's. What we're dealing with here is Sony, the biggest pirate of the industry. They haven't innovated much. They've mostly stolen technology and improved upon it. They're more like the Dupont of the gaming industry. They don't make the products you use, they make the products you use better. Let's be honest, PS1 reeked of 3DO, the PS2 was cleverly marketed after the dreamcast, and seemed eerily like the same thing but with dvd playback. PSN was directly in response to XBOX Live. The PS3 is more of the same with Bluray...We'll tell LG you said "Hi!"
During that time they've also "imported" joysticks, the rumble feature, and now they want us to believe that "Move" is original. At least that's what they pay publishers to print. Essentially they sue and harass any dev who exploits the PS3 which is the same way Sony came up in the game. If they're really worried about what people do with their consoles after they buy them, then why aren't aren't they pursuing terrorists who tear out the processors in them to make bombs? I guess we already know the answer to that...MONEY! They actually make money selling those machines to the terrorists. I'm not saying the PS3 is a bad system but I am saying Sony has bad practices. I know the rules and piracy's illegal but don't expect me to feel bad about it or for Sony to get any sympathy here.

Yes it could be piracy for some, But it can also be a way for some of us to reactivate our legit deactivated PSN games. (Here in the UK it is perfectly legal to make and use a backup copy providing you have the original). So the way I see it is this, If its ok to reflash your PS3 with MFW, And Its ok to run homebrew on our PS3's, Then there shouldnt be a problem running legit backups. Anyone that doesnt have an issue with using MFW, But has issue's with running legit backups on their PS3 is ignorant and single minded. Legally I can own and use backups, But using MFW, Hacking the PS3, Or changing protected content is either illegal or debatable. Whats the difference between using MFW, Homebrew, And playing legit backups!?, Oh and morals don't come into it at this point!, Try and justify it from a legal perspective. |

It would be nice if a way was found to run all our DD/DLC which was lost from CFW for whatever reason.
I'm lucky that I made a backup of my reg files, still annoying though having to use xreg though and not everyone has their's. |

As to the MFW etc, the distributed MFW is against the rules, but the homebrew is not as the authors of it do not need to have broken any rules to have written it unless they either give out MFW with it, or charge a fee for it. |

Before anyone goes crazy, I think these are older games. PRE-3.56, IIRC. Still a good news item though!

Hahaha, how true! If Sony had anything about them they'd realise how much potential revenue they are losing by not allowing CFW to access PSN.
