virtual memory card issue
If I had to guess, I think the memory cards are not getting initialized because the PS3 thinks it is running MultiMan and not the PS1 emulator. If you press the PS button it brings up both the XMB and the PS1 menu, which is not normal behavior when playing a PS1 original through the XMB. The normal behavior only shows the PS1 menu and not the XMB.
If that's the case, I have to imagine it would be quite the challenge to get the virtual memory cards working. Right now we're just launching an executable and it's just dumbly running it. Getting it to do something else - initialize virtual memory cards - seems like it would not be easy. Hopefully someone can figure it out. |

more baseless speculation...maybe there is another executable that normally gets run before the emulator to initialize the memory cards? I'll poke around the flash a little more, but I am really not sure what to look for. There has to be code somewhere in the flash that does this, right? Is it possible for multiman to execute multiple files in a chain? |

read the thread. PS2 backups don't work doing this. Only PS1.

Looks like somebody else also noticed what seems to block savegames, either way I'll post it to be sure:
deank, notice that when you boot a PSOne game the PS3 boots the game BUT remains on multiMan running in the background. You can check this by pressing the PS button, then or select the multiMan icon on the XMB (it will think you are still running MM so it will just lead you back to the PSOne game) or chek the Quit option in the menu it says to quit multiMan! I'm pretty sure that the PS3 is freezing when trying to mount a memory card on a slot because the PS3 has no code to do such function in a PS3 app mode, looks like it checks something on the Game you are currently running in the background that is incompatible/unavailable/uknown for the PSOne emu and since the PS3 recognises you run MM this causes a freeze.
