I'm thinking something like mounting the disc in the drive to apps/Home/ (like Select-X/BDEMU used to do) then going back the Sony XMB to run it using it's actual Game ID instead of Multiman?

This would obviously fix the issue with the memory cards but before that, you need to fix the issue of instead of booting a game from a disc to mount it/run it from HDD. This is one solution to fix 2 problems.
So far we can't do that, but who knows, it's still Christmas Eve isn't it? XD

OK, guys check this out...

- I burned Breaker Pro (PS1 Disc Loader + Cheat Disc) (this is very old xD)
- Loaded with latest multiMAN from XMMB (Kmeaw FW)
- Selected main option in Breaker Pro Loader
- Ejected Disc as instructed by Breaker Pro
- Inserted Final Fantasy VIII Backup CD-R (This one is always detected as Data Disc on XBM and multiMAN)
- Pressed a button to continue with loading
- Success! Final Fantasy VIII was loaded using multiMAN + Breaker Pro

Have not tested Memory Cards yet

EDIT: Memory Card works if you already created and configured it at XMB section, if you try to set it up while using multiMAN feature then the PS3 will freeze. I just loaded a FFVIII save I had without problems. Btw, the video smooth configuration is not being loaded as well, I have to set it up when the game is loaded.

SeeYa!

couple of things
i am using retail discs
I am trying to get it playable via hard drive so i try...
Copying it and it eventually stalls during installation then eventually say Error occurred while accessing data! (shows how many sectors read and total to be read)
Create ISO and it doesn't even start. It shows 0% and never anything further

0_______________0 No way!...
Amazing news. Oh and just to let you know Breaker pro is ALSO for ps2 games!..So dont just limit it to ps1 games. Breaker pro does both go go go!
Thank you for telling me this.
Or at least the one I saw over at the modchipstore...Breaker Pro is suppose to allow backups of ps1 "and" ps2 games. From what it says. I never owned it so I don't know. OH and I thought that was a swap method???
And how did you swap them??

Not really, Breaker Pro is for PS1 backups, it works on PlayStation 2 consoles, but it doesn't load PS2 backups, the one that boots PS2 games is Swap Magic .

Product Details

Allows the PS-ONE and Playstation 2 to play PS-One import games and backup games without internal modification
Play PSOne / PSX Import games on your PS2
Play PSOne / PSX Backup games on PS2
No modchip required. No Need to open your PS2 Console
No warranty issues - console remains completely intact
No need for chips or soldering.
No technical knowledge whatsoever is required.
Works on all original PS-One and Playstation 2
Can be used as the TOC Disc together with the Swap Magic Set.
Loading is simple, after Breaker PRO is loaded, you just select the main option, eject Breaker Pro disc and insert the PS1 Backup disc (wait at least 10 seconds), then just hit any button!

EDIT: Btw, I just created a new game save while playing Final Fantasy VIII backup and no problems here ^^.

SeeYa!

Another thing you may want to know as well, PS1 games 'must' be burned at the 'lowest possible speed' and it is highly recommended to use Alcohol 120% for that (it does the necessary adjustments for burning PS1 discs using RAW DAO and such), if you just burn a PS1 Disc at maximum speed or any other high speed they will have problems, like freezing, video stuttering, etc.
