The costs of the security hack are now 177 million + bribes (money under the table) for senior officials

Sony should have reacted faster. This is what actually stood out to me. Sony either monitor your darn network better or wake up from your egotistical ways and start caring about the consumers of your products.

No matter how secure a server is, it will always be hackable it just takes someone with a little time and knowledge of how to violate the server to get the information they wanted. where is the evidence that they knew of the holes and risk of a potential hack?
i do believe Sony is at fault but you must admit it is mostly the hackers fault for doing it. yes? I think what shocked me the most was the fact that the infomation was not encrypted! WTF sony

If you build a bank with no vault and home security system from 1990, and then leave piles of money everywhere for no reason whatsoever, then yes...the people who rob you are criminals...but are they really at fault? After all, there are lots of criminals in the world and you only have your one bank. If you had done the security better the theft probably wouldn't have happened...but if the people who robbed you had not robbed you, someone else would have. I'll go one farther than that...suppose you manage a bank with great security. One day the security company shows up and tells you that they found a flaw in the design of the security that has been posted online for millions to see, and that they want to fix it for free. You respond by having a security guard escort them out. Every week they come back, saying the same things every time. After about 6 months of this your bank gets robbed by a criminal that used the information that had been online for 6 months. Are you liable for that robbery? At the very least, won't the police suspect that you you might have had something to do with the robbery since you were so intent on letting it happen? |

Considering that they got hacked like 6 more times over the next 2 months, I would say that they didn't learn a thing...other than to hide a clause in the TOS to prevent lawsuits.
