So I'm new at the whole ps3 scene had it for only a month and I'm ready to play around with it. I have the latest system update I'm not by it right now to know exactly what firmware I have. I am familiar with hacking/homebrew from the wii and I hack my android phone all the time so I'm pretty sure if someone shows me the right steps I could conquer the ps3 ,any advice? I want homebrew and a n64 emu mostly, anything else would be nice to

welcome to be able to run any kind of homebrew etc you need to be on fw 3.55 and as you on the lastest you are on 3.72 . the only thing you can do it downgrade to 3.55 search up about e3 flasher and also proskeet , also with them you can dual boot 3.55cfw and 3.72ofw so you can have the best of both worlds at a touch of a button

Thanks for replying and is there another way besides e3 flasher trying to avoid ripping the whole system apart haha maybe later but right now 300$ is alot to be tearing apart haha 60gb reverse drive

yes there is its called progskeet but still requires taking the system apart. lol sorry.

Once it's downgraded with the E3 flasher, can you run the jailbreak and put the hard drive back in the normal place instead of having to have it in an external caddy?

E3 Flasher, here I come! lol Disassembly is no issue for me. I'm surprised on some of the distributors site for the flasher didn't have any installation services for it like they do the Xbox 360. They could make a lot of money as long as they have the tools and don't send the tools back with the PS3's.
