I really hate how the ps3 just "Upscales" the PS2 games. It would be great if this actually came out and Devs can reverse it and create or reuse the method in the PSN-PS2 games that (I hope) renders the game in full high definition. The only thing I've seen that runs PS2 games at HD resolution is using the PC emulator PCSX2, and the games look amazing with the higher resolution, Anti-Aliasing, anisotropic filter, and texture filtering. If only........If only.......

The scene is surely to catch this if its true, and devs will eventually get around to working on it.

I have a backwards compatible PS3 (60GB launch) and have messed with the ps2 self files quite a bit. This isn't certain but I found that I run my PS2 games all hardware, the only time that the PS3 uses PS2_softemu.self was to detect the game or when changing discs (when ejecting). Other than that I find that the PS2_emu.self file is used all other times other then the PS2_gxemu.self (which I have no idea its purpose). From my experiments I THINK that the PS2_softemu.self is used between the ps3 side and the ps2 side. Please don't trash me over this lol, I only stated what I found and understood (or think I understood).

Exactly what i was thinking except i want to change a couple words...
I think it is cheaper for me to turn on my hacked ps2 and change the video channel on the TV. I can get the games for free " but won't pirate" and the best games I already own I'm not gonna pay for another game ever whether i own it or not $ony, FU

I know already?... :'(
I wish that too but there are some restrictions that cannot get overpassed:

1. Graphics Synthesizer does NOT allow any other resolutions than:
480i/p
576i/p* (576p only on the latest bios of the slim hardware, but it got never used either way)
640x480 (60/72/75/85 Hz) **
800x600 (56/60/72/75/85 Hz) **
720p **
1280x1024 (60/75 Hz) **
1080i **

**= All of them are not native. They are 512x448 scalled to that resolution.

So the main drawback would be that consoles that contain onboard GS would not be able to take advantage of the hardware they have to execute higher resolutions and they would be forced to use tweaked software emulation of the GS to allow such thing, like PCSX2 does, and leave the GS unused.

2. Because of what I said above, you would need in practice to use the full software emulator, despite the fact that you have a BC console. The full software emulator is already struggling to handle PS2 games at 480i 50fps with 512 shared RAM. I don't want to know the fps in 720/1080p modes...

Well with the e3 flasher you can dual boot a cfw and an ofw.

or you can help out your friends to make your money back. Since the e3 flasher is solderless, you can easily downgrade multiple friends ps3 slims and then put it back in your console. hopefully that changes your mind?

This is just going to piss people off. Launch consoles had hardware emu, which was then replaced by software, to being removed altogether! And now they are thinking of bringing it back but the only ps2 games you can play are the ones you have to rebuy?!

Seriously hope hackers figure out a way to get backup ps2 games and get them working on all consoles by finding out how $ony gets these games working.

Or are these ps3 games recoded for use only on ps3 consoles?
