IMHO it would be the *best* case: to have that standalone applet (a simple PSX icon) and the backup issue solved too

Good luck hunting the bug!

If there is something in which we can help, just ask us.

EDIT:
I guess you could integrate a PSX.SELF applet to multiMAN, like you do with BROWSE.SELF

lol so wait backup from like usb to hd works fine just legit backups are broken...stupid blue ray drm...Yeah if the only way to make it work is to have ps1 separate with loader sure why not alot of people have been saying can't another emu be ported and then just use ps1emu lol...i suppose highly illegal but would give gui at least

yuuza i like streaming 1080p blueray rip mkv's via mediatomb to showtime it works pretty well in my view

I vote for a Stand-alone PSX app as well!

I'm trying to figure out how to resolve the issue to keep the same functionality. Curently it is either

1) play PSX games + rip blu-ray movies,
or
2) have backup of PS3 games working

In the worst case I'll create a standalone app (a simple PSX icon in your XMB Game column) which you can use to launch PSX games, so it won't require multiMAN at all.

So in short: in these latest versions everything work except backing up PS3 games from original game disc.

Dean
I think the stand alone PSX app is a great idea. No reason to lose any multiMAN features over old PSX games.

If you were to make the psx as a separate program, would that program also handle the ripping process of Bluray as well or will that continue in MM somehow?

I think he will make 2 standalone apps, One for psx and one for making blu-ray backups.

IF psx games could be booted via hdd then I would suggest keep the psx functionality. After all the ps3 'back up' capabilities are pretty much redundant with any of the latest titles due to the fw issues regarding 3.60+. In many ways our modded ps3 macines are turning into retro consoles (If we use the term retro with regards ps3 titles a over 5 months old).

However since all back ups can be loaded from usb apart from psx (not only that but psx items don't have the visual glory of covers, icons etc, it is the basic blank disc) then a standalone psx loader would (apart from possibly giving scope maybe for some visual improvements in this area?) not feel too apart from mMans feel as a hdd loading wonder

Apart from using MAme (which btw Dean did you ever have any plans to integrate into mM?) then I boot up the ps3 and I'm in mM until I'm done for the day! Out of game then I'm back straight into the mM menu for another. Even so I'm sure the psx loader would work well as again, going over to the ps3 and switching psx discs is the only time I'm near it!

Whatever happens it will be good for some and not for others. and I'm sure we'll also hear from each side too

Many thanks all

saku

I didn't exactly unerstood what you said so i'm asking: Does multiman store saves samwhere else? If yes, where could i find them and use your methods to put them onto the ps3? Or i create the save file with the program and then copy it, and then modify it with the game? Because if there is already a save on the memory card, then multiman can save/load from it with no problems. The tricky part is to create the save file. Can i do it with the program you suggested? Thank you!

P.S.: I also vote for the standalone PSX app. It would be great!

multiMAN DOESN'T save their game saves anywhere else (thank you for pointing that out to me ) and they use the same path as when you boot up a PSone game via conventional means (illud est: NOT VIA MULTIMAN) and also, when you save a game, it gets shown on the memory card image in the path that is shown in the tutorial, but not via the XMB (Cross Media Bar interface) - hence the need for a memory card image viewer.

In addition to that, you can also create a new memory card from your PC, copy individual saves to it and copy the images to "dev_hdd0/savedata/vmc" (sans the speech marks), BUT make sure you have created the memory card images via the XMB AND make sure that the filenames and its extensions MATCH the ones that are originally on the PS3's HDD!

Also, I vote for the standalone PSone application too.
