PS3 With 4K Resolution Support: Imminent Tech For Playstation 4?
The PlayStation 3 would surely defy how digital graphics is viewed when its upcoming firmware update would allow it to support 4K resolution photos. Said feature was recently revealed by Sony in CEATEC held in Japan which happen to be the event where the company introduced the VPL-VW1000ES or the world’s first-ever 4K home theater projector.
You may be posing the question of what is 4K? For starters, 4K is an up-and-coming standard with respect to resolution of digital film as well as computer graphics. The term 4K simply means 4,000 pixels (approximately) of horizontal resolution. Don’t get it mixed up with 720p and 1080p as both refer to vertical pixels. Moreover, the horizontal resolution may remain constant while vertical resolution varies due to video source and display aspect ratio.  With PS3 support for 4K enabled, the gaming console will have the capability to show off 4096×2160 display resolution of images. Its current capability only allows it to display images at 1080p (above these, the device doesn’t fully display the image). The update would also allow for connectivity of the VPL-VW1000ES to the PS3. Japan is also quite advance as there’s a magazine available in PlayStation stores in the country that has support for 4K and 3D and it’s known as PlayView.
