Your old HDD is encrypted and can't be read by another PS3. PC's can't recognize the ps3 file system. There is no way to access the data on your old HDD.

You also can't install CFW if you are on 3.72...

Sorry for the bad news

In this case you have to wait for 3.72 CFW also or downgrade using a hardware flash, otherwise you can't run "maybe possible homebrew in the future" that will decrypt a PS3 HDD....

another way would be to just give another try in repairing the ps3, and overclocking the fan so it lasts just enough to recover the saves

I think you mean "over-volt" the fan as there is no clock to my knowledge in a fan to overclock.

well actually this is not an over-volt because the fan will still run at 12 V... anyway overclock is just a term used commonly when you want to say you're gonna have something work faster, isn't it?

Well from my knowledge in general use it would be that case, but I think in technical use its for anything that has a clock, be it ram, gpu, cpu, hell even a microwave, but a fan doesn't have a clock it just runs on magnetic field and coils that don't have a definite clock cycle. And if you were to think about it, overclocking is to make something run faster then it is supposed to, but even if you crank the speed up to 12 volts and have it run at full speed it wouldn't be overclocking since its still working within its designed voltage. Thats why I mentioned over volt as it pushes the fans motor faster then it was designed to go when compared to its standard voltage of 12 volts. like use a 18v will obviously push it faster then a 12v. But its only a word and one can use it anyway that makes sense.
I was just posting my thoughts I guess.

As for the recovery of data, I think that the only way would be to do what was mentioned above and try to get it temporarily fixed long enough for you to backup and get your saves.
