hey i want to get into ps3 hacking but don't know where to start.
im new here, and really want to get into the whole ps3 hacking idea. i am corrently on OFW 3.15 but i dont know where to go from there

I suggest updating to 3.55 official fw and then to kmeaw cfw 3.55 in order to use the homebrews available.
Once you are comfortable you can move onto more advanced cfw like rebug There are some good tutorials here on how to do it.

Well you can stay on 3.15, update to 3.41 or update to 3.55, you could also use the search function as that will have got you all the information you need, other than that, read this F.A.Q, it will give you all the info you need:
