Copying Movies from NTFS drives

I have a PS3 which is not on any network and a portable hard drive of 1 TB. I can get my Portable to work (under certain circumstances involving very accurate plug in time ) but i cant get the movies on it to come to my main PS3 XMB videos section. The XMB videos are stored in a wierd way , somewhat like those in an IPod. If i use Showtime, it often complains that the "CPU is too slow to decode the video"
Can anyone please tell me how to copy the video file FROM THE FILE MANAGER to a proper place where they will be detected in the main PS3 video section? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

well, you can switch from FAT32 to NTFS with pfs drivers from multiman, then the file manager will read your external HDD if it's ntfs. Anyway you just have to create a folder named video into dev_hdd0 and put in there your videos... remember mkv files are not supported from XMB...

Didnt work Nichibotsu.. There are many subfolders with 2 alphabets as their names inside dev_hdd0/video (for example, : ae, fk etc) . All the video files i have added earlier (from FAT32 thumb drives) have 2 extra files with them (generated by the PS3). directly adding does not work. The vids are stored like those on an ipod.
