Downgrading ps3 out of box

ok, I am not understanding the issue with downgrading a ps3 that had OFW higher then 3.55 out of the box. What would happen if you do try to downgrade it? (will it brick it, mess it up, or do anything?)

If im using the E3 flasher on a slim that had a OFW higher then 3.55, does it matter because you are flasher the hardware, which in terms should flash the protection (if any) to prevent downgrading a system past out of box state?

And is there even any protection on a ps3 to try to prevent you on downgrading out of box ps3 with OFW higher then 3.55?

I guess the short question is, why can't you flash a PS3 out of the box with OFW higher then 3.55 to put CFW on it?

This is not a matter of protection, but compatibility.
Not sure about stock 3.56+ consoles, but stock 3.60+ consoles have metldr.2 which simply cannot decrypt/load 3.55 firmware.

Also, all PS3 consoles have a value in their EID that dictates which firmware is the lowest it can run. I believe there is a way to bypass this, but I don't know it. This anyway would only be useful in stock 3.56 consoles, or some stock 3.60-3.61 consoles that still have metldr (assuming this is the reason those cannot run 3.55, which it probably isn't).

I see what your saying, according to what i see on the net, is these systems with metldr.2, are the so called "unhackable" is what am understading. and these unhackable systems where the 3001a-3001b models, or systems that were made after Feb 2011, is what I have found on the net, my slim system was made in Nov. 2010, witch should have the 1st metldr, right?
