@VIRGIN KLM
: I tried that just now and couldn't re-produce your result.. I copied ISO.BIN.EDAT from the games folder to PSP Launcher's folder, returned to XMB, launched PSP launcher and get activation screen.. If I try to just run the game I get the activation screen.
I've tried other things, but nothing changes.. Any ideas? Thanks!

The only way would be decrypt cobra's ISO.BIN.EDAT and repack it as debug EDAT with make_edata_npdrm from SDK. But to decrypt it requires correct act.dat (cobra payload most likly writing it straight to RAM on booting, since it JB dongle). |

Do you have a Japanese PSN account on your PS3 (and not deleted it after the PSN shutdown to CFW)? I think this interferes with where the activation is registered on. If you do, I think it should work. If you don't it may still work though. Make sure you launch/play Xi JPN PSOne Classics Demo atleast once before you copy the ISO.BIN.EDAT to the PSP Launcher. Also after you installed and played/launched atleast once Xi JPN PSOne Classics Demo make sure you go back to XMB go to it's Game Icon and press then select Information. Check the account that it's registered on under the field ''Owner''. It should match when you replace the file on the PSP Launcher. Also make sure you launch the app when you are Signed In from this account it shows that it's the Owner.If anyone wants to see I can make a Video.
It is NOT an exectutable file, and handles no responsibility on the emulation side of the PSP Launcher. The EBOOT.PBP has some edited prx'es that fix those issues Cobra said for. ISO.BIN.EDAT is the file responsible for linking where to check the authentication is registered on. I tried to see if what you said is true by putting the contents of the Xi Demo together on the PSP Launcher. If it was an executable file it would link to these files and the Xi Demo would start. Nope PS3 simply ignored them.

If this was true it would give me back or a corrupt data or after booting it would bring me back to XMB with an Error msg.
Cobra's PSP Launcher uses that file just to prevent people from hacking it, there is NO way that they made an Activation file without having the appropriate tools Sony has.

I'm assuming the eboot looks for the mounted iso at a specific location? Could it be hex edited to look for it at the bluray drive and then burn a psp iso to a blank cd?

There is no PS3 type (BIN) EBOOT on Minis. Only a PSP type (PBP) EBOOT that when you unpack it, it contains some files and an empty USRDIR folder. What the Backup Loader does is mount the contents of the ISO on that USRDIR so the emulation starts. I'll try to do that myself.

![]() Their EBOOT.PBP indeed contain some prx to make emu compatible with more games. Also ISO part in their EBOOT.PBP is dummy. Cobra's backup manager relocates (link) it to file on usb via custom syscalls. ************* [ - Post Merged - ] ************* So my point is: Cobra team decrypted retail Minis ISO.BIN.EDAT, patched it/removed checks on EBOOT.PBP and resigned it to protect their product. So people without dongle just can't swap EBOOT.PBP and play it. |

@RikuKH3
This is weird. This means that the truth lies somewhere between what you said and what I said. I don't understand, it should normally result into Corrupt Data or upon launch PS3 would kick me back to XMB with an error code.
Also Cobra's PSP Launcher has no act.dat. So the ISO.BIN.EDAT is an act.bin with different segmentation. Can you try to decrypt it with the recently released tools? Also I guess It should work also if you would replace the ISO.BIN.EDAT with a file borrowed from a legally purchased Mini tittle... Hmmm I don't have any... :/

ISO.BIN.EDAT contains specific information and tied to correspond EBOOT.PBP (hashchecks it, checks ID/PARAM, checks executable/whatever).
Cobra's ISO.BIN.EDAT patched to accept any EBOOT.PBP (it's not even signed properly, I tested it on OFW PSP). Is it clear now? ************* [ - Post Merged - ] ************* Cobra JB dongle writes activation data straight to RAM on boot. Cobra team figured out EDATA decryption algorithm, decrypted some unknown retail PSP Mini game, patched it and re-encrypted it back with the same act.dat they used for decryption. |
