If you have all the best sellers off the bat.. Those lower selling titles wont sell much at all.. Now since they are the only ones they will sell better..

Seems like Sony did that with the Psone classics.. with a few good ones here and there..

I was really hoping they would re-release GT4 after my old TV died and I could no longer connect my PS2 to my new screen...but now that GT5 is out, GT4 seems kinda pointless.

And before anyone asks, no I didn't just copy the PS2 game into the folder, I did attempt to edit things and make it work, lol.
It won't work, I'll explain why.
It's not exactly something like what you do on MAC to play Windows games.
In MAC you use a ''wrapper'' that uses wine to emulate Windows APIs.
This ''wrapper'' contains the folder structure of the Windows format application right?
Well that's not exactly what happens on PS3.
MAC wrappers rely on the fact that both MAC and Windows are Intel based.
PS2 is MIPS and PS3 is PPC64.
So before that alot of stuff need rewriting.
So it may appear that the game is the same as a structure but all the previous scripts, elfs are aaall rewritten for PPC.
A clear example why is this true:
Take Resident Evil 4 HD.
The folderstructure appears to match the PS2 (and GC) versions of the game but in reallity it's NOT a PS2 port/remake of the game.
It's a Wii port of the game!
Proof?
1. There is a folder named ''Wii'' that contains all the basic scripts of the game.
2. Hacking the game causes for a hidden menu to appear on the Main Screen of the game. It's called ''Bonus Video''. Forcing to appear this menu replaces the Leaderboards menu. Now here's the shock! Selecting the Bonus Video category causes... ...PS3 to go to black screen and after a couple of seconds it comes up with a trailer of Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles for the Wii(!?)
LOOOL
I just found a leftover of the gamecode!
Why did this happen?
Because Capcom instead of rewriting the important scripts for PPC, they just used the Wii version which is also PPC!
The same idea as the wrappers of Mac.
So now you get why this is technically impossible right?

Does anyone have the capability to extract a pkg from the newly released "Only on Playstation" PS2 games. Because they are not upscaled, the unpkg'd files may point to how Sony pulls that off on non-BC PS3s. It'll be interesting to see what else they can pull off with their PSN PS2 games.

Pointless.
3.55 firmware is not capable of understanding the data type of those games, if you install them they appear as Corrupted Data.
The support came in the new firmwares.

Is there any way to currently find out what these new things are and possible implement them in a CFW/MFW?

Yes they are on lv2kernel mostly but you can't implement them till before you can hack 3.70+ but even then why would you implement it on 3.55 and not just go to latest CFW?...
I don't want to sound greedy or the typical type of PS3 scene troll but I guess it's officially the time for a new CFW, 3.55 starts to show of it's first serious rust marks, but before people start to twist my words, still no way worse than OFW...

Agreed a new CFW for 3.55+ would be great, but from what I can see there is no sign of this for awhile, a shame we can't get this figured out for 3.55.

Another reason I don't see this being a reason for anyone who may know how to crack 3.70 to come forth is that ps2 games are currently playable via iso by Cobra, Now if only the features of the Cobra Manager and PSP launcher could be figured out to run without the Dongle.

Well actually that not exactly true.
The PS2 Classics come bundled with a specific emulator for each of the game, the compatibility of Cobra is not even near as good as those games have.
As for PSP I'm not 100% but that could be worked around, I try to do my best, I need though somebody with the dongle to try what I'm working on...

PS: Well, I'm not sure if it's a good idea to tell it and I don't want to cause controversy but before some days I got to know a couple of people who I'm pretty sure they have 3.60+ keys. Don't worry, I'm not trolling you or something, it was a surprise to me too but the point of me telling that is that there are some boundaries that block a public leak of some stuff.
One of those things is like, let's say, I have the keys and I want to leak them anonymously. Can the forum guarantee to me that upon the leak they will protect my personal info if Sony sues them? Are they also ready to get the responsibility to post such stuff with putting in risk the forum to get shut down by Sony? I'm pretty sure this is what those people are thinking and nothing have happened so far. They are very strict on trying to keep secret their identity and what they have done so far.

yeah, it would be good to be in the know of these people. I find it odd that even if someone does not wish to publicly release these things, that they don't spread around to other forum member via emails and such. Well one can wait and hope, and perhaps one thing or another will come to light.
