Ever since the mid 90's, this country has been in a downward spiral. Our economy has been progressively getting worse each year. The middle class has just about been wiped out. Corporate America and the political system are at fault. This has nothing to do with where you live and who your ancestors are. This is effecting the whole country. I agree with what the protest is about and the message trying to be sent to wall street and our politicians, but more than likely, protesting will not accomplish anything, it will probably take more than just protesting get the message across.

wow....i cannot believe some of the responses in here...

calling all the protesters spoiled brats...really? are you kidding me?

I can see it coming from people of other countries that don't have it as good as the US, but com on..

we are / were the land of the free. we were the greatest country in the world, now we are considered the greatest failed COMPANY in the world.

what these people are protesting is the fact that our congress man are in the pockets of lobbyist, those lobbyist are in the pockets of the banks, the world is in the pockets of these big huge conglomerate banks.

don't you people realize, that this is only the begging? eventually, there will be no middle class.

CEO salaries have been on the rise for the past 20 years, where as the average worker's salaries have plateaued, with very minor raises.

In the end there will & can only be master & slave. UNLESS people stand up for their rights.

we fought for our rights way back when, & now is the time to do it again. in the US its not going to be north vs south, but Class vs Class.

& im sorry, but the rich people would not win that fight, a person with nothing to loose, or a person who has lost it all is a very dangerous person.

I went to the occupy wall street rally last weekend & handed out food. I was also at the very small occupy philly rally as well. I met ALOT of very educated people , hell even 2 mechanical engineers, who were un-employed/laid off, because their jobs got outsourced.

the problem is that america used to be a awesome place where we made great quality products & took pride in our work.
not its all about the bottom line.

& the govt knows that....thus the reason things started getting outsourced in the first place. the only way to bring a country to its knees is by slowly removing factors that make it great.

USA used to have the best cars in the world...then we outsourced because it was cheaper.

we used to make the best clothes/textiles , then we outsourced. Did you know that back in the 60's 99% of all fabrics/textiles in the US were made in the us? did you know that now, only about 5-10% of them are still made in the us?

you think that's a coincidence? no.

I had originally typed out a much longer response but i hit the backspace button, & it took me to the previous page.

I only ask that you please educate yourselves before passing judgement.

Everyone thinks its only a bunch of whinny kids, but that's because that's how the media is spinning it. They aren't showing all the military vets & Iraq war vets that are complaining, they are showing all the upper middle class people complaining...because if they did, then people would actually think that this is something instead of another little protest....

also STOP WATCHING FOX news, some of you people are spouting off at the mouth of information that has been said on their station. FOX is nothing but a bunch of spineless a-holes who get paid not to have a honest opinion. but to say what they are paid to say....

its real simple to fix the problem our economy is having, but it will never happen. heres how.

STOP SHOPPING AT WALLMART, & buying goods made in other countries, but that's the catch, people physically cannot. in order for the average american to buy stuff made in america its almost double the price, so they go to wall-mart & buy the cheaper china stuff, so that they can also have a bit of spare money just in case someone gets sick, or so that thier kids can go to school in cloths that are not ripped & tattered & hand me down over 3-5 generations of their siblings.

I am a security analyst, but im also a huge gear head. i beg for the day, every day, that all computers crash in this world, it will finally be the day of freedom. hopefully there wont be any planes in the air, & no one driving, ,,,,obviously this is just a pipe dream,,,but hey im american ...im allowed to have dreams

I'm from the Netherlands and when I grew up my dad always drove Chevrolet Vans. Great cars (still have 3 of them from before 1970 (a Greenbrier, an Ambulance and a normal Van)) with great quality. We as a family where also very America minded if it came to other products.

If I buy myself a Chevrolet Van tomorrow I buy myself a Korean Van, If I buy Levi I also buy foreign non-american crap, If I buy a Harman Kardon amplifier I buy Chinese inferior electronics and so on.

Nothing special anymore about it.... Producing cars and all other products is to expensive in the western world. Main reason are the high taxes and the greed from the top. Why doesn't the government lower the taxes on labor to compete again? Because they need the large amounts of money they make on labor tax for their own big salary for doing nothing is the only explanation I can think of. They want to continue the failing system they profit from for their whole lives if possible.

Governments have to be run like small businesses. If they don't make enough money or spoil to much they have to pay it from their own pockets just like every entrepreneur does. Governors have to be financially responsible for what they do. For example: I saw a special here on Dutch TV about a small American city with a very expensive new build library and now they don't have money to buy books for it. Someone has to be held responsible for that kind of spoiling tax money, but nobody is.... someone with a normal kind of financial thinking never would have build the expensive building. All governors have a kind of megalomania when it comes to spending other peoples tax money...

About the internet you are right, the world was a much better place before the internet hype. Now it is a world based on globalisation due to the world wide web and a very big world most people almost don't understand anymore. And if I look at the last 20 years I have lost all kind of rights and have to act to so much more rules it isn't funny anymore, and there are so much ways to control me that Big Brother is becoming reality.

The internet was invented by the US army to be used in a war against the enemy, now the internet is used against the normal people by the government...

This is about accountability of the those on WallStreet and the Banking Industry who were bailed out (subsidized)
by the American tax payer for taking taking unmitigated risks with other peoples money when they shouldn't.
To let them utterly fail and take all responsibility, like they should have, would have caused more harm than good.
Some Bankers are going to Jail.
For many there are no laws covering what they did.
However the behavior is unacceptable.
These people are tied into the basic fabric of the American economy, they should be held accountable for their actions.
Paying for their mistakes and or greed is not something that should be tolerated or excused ever again.
This isn't about poor, stupid or lazy people wanting government money or the hard redistribution of wealth from the rich Robin Hood style.
Its about responsible money management by the professionals in charge.
They need to know that masses wont/can not tolerate this behavior ever again.

Don't forget the role of the governments in this. In my country the government knew about problems with certain bad bank products (tying expensive life insurances people didn't knew about etc.) and did nothing. They let it continue for a few years and made it possible others fell in the same trap unnecessary. We call it the woekerpolis affair. One bank who almost lived on selling these bad products even was able to hire the ex minister of Finance in this period in the hope people would trust the bank more and the greedy ex minister took the job knowing about the bad products anyway. Bankers and governments, one big corrupt conspiracy...
The ex minister of Finance is now the big boss of ABN Amro, a bank owned by the government now after 2008. European rules say governments aren't allowed to posses a bank but they do it anyway....

I would have to agree that these people are very lazy...they could be protesting the Fed like the people in EVERY OTHER MAJOR CITY...but they don't want to travel. They could be protesting the government that makes the rules that REQUIRE wall street and the businesses they trade to screw the economy...but again, they don't feel like marching. They could at least try to figure out why they are protesting in case they get a news camera shoved in their unwashed faces, but no...too lazy for that too.
