They call themselves "Christian"...and the book that most of them have includes the book from another religion that is no where near as peaceful as the teachings of Jesus. The pastors pick and choose what to read, leaving bits out as they go, reading between the lines of a translation.

The really funny part about it being a translation is that Christians all say the bible is perfect, and that this is proof it was written by god. You point out an obvious problem, and they say that god put it there to test their faith, because the bible must be perfect...it was written by god!

That is an insult to stupid people. Just because someone can't talk, that does not make them some kind of murderer. Killing in the name of god is IGNORANT.

What do you mean by 'Christians' having or following books from another religion? Are you referring to like the book of Mormon and those types of text? I do agree that the huge majority of pastors/priests refuse to regard all of the bible even to the point where something will be clear as day and they'll find a way to turn it around and say it means something else.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean here. The bible may have been translated for people of other countries to read, but the manuscripts and dead sea scrolls are available for anyone to go back to at any time.

I'm not sure what you mean by pointing out obvious problems either. Care to elaborate?
Considering it is the word of God, I'd assume there are none.

I got to say any time I get into a convo with an atheist they say religion is the cause of war. Really from what statistics. They tend to blame worldly causes on religion. If religion never existed would there be modesty.I'm not insulting anyone , in fact my best friend is atheist.

The other book I was referring to was the old testament; this is the book of Judaism, and clashes with the teachings of Jesus in countless ways.

As for the obvious problems, the easy ones to spot come from the multiple different "first hand" accounts of the life of Jesus. They just don't match up...if any of them are accurate, then the rest are wrong.

As for the translations, people read them and try to read between the lines as if the author had hidden secret messages inside the text...but the authors didn't speak english, and if there were any secret messages there, they were lost in translation. The people who do this never try to read between the lines of the originals because they can't read anything other than english...and given their lack of reasoning, it is reasonable to assume that just being able to read english was a huge battle for them.

These people even call Jesus, "The Messiah"...so either they think he is a warmonger sent by god to kill everyone who wasn't Jewish, or they have no idea what Messiah means.

I believe in in the guy who made the Big Bang possible

I also believe no one has the right to force someone to believe what he/she believes in any way, so stay away from my front door, I hate indoctrination

I'm an Athiest, and also wise (and old) enough to know that religion is used as an excuse more aften than not for someone to get what they want.

Historical facts say that the majority of wars and slaughter of innocent people have been done under the banner of a religion (Christianity being the worst).

If the followers of any religion did not believe the ones calling them to war in the name of their diety were correct and true then why go to war on someone who follows a different religion?

Religion IS inherently twisted and abused by its most devout followers, but an individuals Belief in a higher being should Never be attacked regardless of whether it agrees with your belief or not.

Ok, that was a wee bit long winded and round about, but Yes, religion HAS caused more death than any other type of war.

Religions don't cause most wars, but they do make a great excuse.
