My drive will eject the disc but wont read them
My ps3 starting yesterday stopped reading anything. I have tried bluray movies, ps1 disc and ps3 game. Nothing the busy signal works but nothing ever shows up. I called sony they want the ps3 but I dont wanna lose my 3.55. Has anyone ever had this issue or know how to fix it?

yep same thing happend to me. do you have any demos on the ps3? also try to rebuild your database in recovery menu. if that dont work then you might need to replace the laser.

I had the same problem once with my PS3, took it into a local shop and they thought the lens was bad, they reset it and it still didn't work. They ended up having to replace the entire drive. Luckily a customer before me had the parts ordered then bailed on the order, so I got the new drive at cost :-)
There are a lot of shops that do repairs in my tiny town. So wherever you live you shouldn't have a problem getting it fixed. By the end my repairs were less than 80 USD. Just shop around before you commit to someone. There were a couple shops that wanted to charge me 60 USD just to look at it. Last edited by Juicepants; 11-16-2011 at 12:39 PM. Reason: added more about shops |
