Hey i had a PS3 that was running 3.55 cfw i downloaded the OFW following your guide and was going to rejailbreak .... when i downloaded and installed the file marked as 3.55 OFW and updated the PS3 now i am showing im on 3.66 and everytime i run the CFW it gives me an error 8002f828..... What happened with the download???

And it was the link in this guide? It looks like you upgraded by mistake.

You have no other choice than downgrading via teensy or progskeet.

the link is from ps3hax sever so i can see it been 3.66 as ive downlaoded it loads and its alway been 3.55 , when u updatd did you have a game in the drive that need 3.66 fw , or did you have fw 3.66 on your ps3 and got mixed up

yes the only way is as @carldenning has said if you had a disc in your blu ray drive then it will update from disc before usb. my links are correct.

followed it step by step and it worked flawlessly
went from a seldom used 3.41 to 3.55 and rebug spoofed to 3.72
I know I am actually still on 3.55..

okay so i have successfully jailbroken my ps3 and all package install's went fine except for openps3ftp. I downloaded latest version 3 from another site i found on google and it doesnt seem to work after the install, just gives me a black screen everytime. Help please..

You said to download the prepatched kmeaw CFW to jailbreak while on 3.55.
What confuses me is here: http://www.iphonejailbroken.net/2011...are-guide.html where only a small 5MB patch needs to be installed on 3.55 to jailbreak the system while kmeaw is a 170MB CFW that should be installed. What is the difference? does kmeaw have more features/options than that small patch? please elaborate.

The patch is only needed if you have HDD problems.
