Whatever system you're playing on, you can also use Square or X to throw items (firebombs for example)

firebombs
i havent been able to thorw firebombs since i died using them on the first big monster. . games a little complex and it only has three pages to the manual and i have a ps3 slim

It's a hard game to get used to if you haven't played Demon's Souls. I wasted 5 hours today playing a thief character just to start all over with a new class.
With melee weapons, R1 and R2 are the only ways to attack.
