YLOD mostly does not depend from what you are playing... if it's still working, than you have made a good work. Remember that the fan won't spin at full power due to the latest FW updates, so consider building an EZ chill for your console

I bought a USB Desk Fan after the reflow process, for the extra cooling with less noise

I think you're gonna get a bit cooler with desk fan, but you're gonna need a new PS3

I can't seem to get the bga component to stick on my n900, I suspect it doesn't align itself to the pads by itself... too heavy maybe?
it's really hard for me to try and align it with sub-mm precision. Especially when I can't see the pads underneath

It's not the fan that is the blame, it's the PSU. Everybody just replace the original PSU with an APS-231 model. YLoD fear gone/won't return.

Also what about the CECHG systems which already had APS-231, and the systems that came after that with even cooler PSUs? Why did these still get YLOD? :P

Also, it isn't the fan that is to blame in the first place...not unless you have a 15 blade or the motor burned out...it is the firmware.

Well, to be honest, I've been repairing PS3's for quite a while now, every YLoD'd PS3 I touch, I replace the PSU. I've never encountered a YLoD'd PS3 with an APS-231 PSU before... So, I don't know! Something must've gone seriously wrong in that case...
Seriously, I could hardly touch the rear of an early generation PS3 without an APS-231. After replacement, they where actually cool-ish.
Yeah I read something like that somewhere... Sony actually making the FW YLoD PS3's or something? What's that all about? But I can't help thinking, why would Sony design a FW that causes YLoD's on purpose? They would ruin there reputation doing that... |

I only did the tests up to 3.55 because I didn't want to have to buy a progskeet...I know they have kept dropping the fan speeds since, I just don't have scientific data like I do for 3.55 and below: http://killerbug666.wordpress.com/20...speed-changes/ |
