Pretty sure they mean they updated their cfw console to ofw to use psn and play newer games.

This dongle is big news but I doubt many will buy it hoping for someone to hack this dongle and create a cfw, or hoping for ports onto their old dongles which are gathering dust.

Still not good news for those of ofw above 3.56 though, since they will need to be downgraded. I dont get it with cfw, I'm not a dev so probably taking out of my anus, but what's stopping them from getting cfw 3.55, relabeling it as ofw 3.7x and then getting the PS3 to downgrade by upgrading it?
Does the new firmware check the old one for some points and if they dont match they cant install? idk....

Whats so "special" about these BD's, are they somehow cloning some sort of security marker the PS3 is looking for and i don't see how a special BD is going to help your PS3 decrypt an eboot it doesn't know the keys for so to me this all sounds a little shady as you would NEED the 3.60+ keys to decrypt the eboot in the first place no?

To bigo93, you sir are a strange bird. If it was as simple as renaming a file and then using that to update, we would've done it already. But, thank you for being a forward thinker.

My opinion on this is mostly negative, basically what we're being told is that in ADDITION to purchasing another dongle, we then have to continue to purchase these other discs from "official resellers" in order to burn our games onto them, which I'm assuming would involve owning a blu ray burner? Far to great of startup costs. The attractive part of CFW and other homebrew programs is the incredibly low cost of startup, and the lack of continued costs placed on the end user after modifying their PS3. If I wanted to support an entity that made me continue to buy media to use a product...well...I'd stick with $ony lol. Someone just dump this like the original Jailbreak, and then the great and amazing deank will implement the disk checks into MultiMan somehow. I believe in him, kid is a genius.
