I think Sony is a terrible company, and if I could help it, I wouldn't buy anything at all from them. However, I will most likely keep buying their consoles. Quite a lot of games I like are PS3 exclusives, I checked the list of 360 and Wii exclusives and there are maybe 5 games in both of them combined I would want to play. The PS3 has a better game library for me, and I like the system itself more than the other two, which are good enough reasons for me to buy it. Besides, most of the money you spend on a console goes to game developers and not Sony (unless you buy a CRAPLOAD of accesories, or if you pirate all your games but that's another matter).
That said, when it comes to consoles, we don't have much choice, we only have Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony.

I'd rather have the gaming console I like best than not letting Sony get some of my money and get one of the 2 others that I will enjoy less.
That said, I will certainly not buy any Sony product other than consoles, as we have a LOT wider choice with phones, TVs, computers etc and there is a LOT of hardware as good as/better than Sony's on those domains (just like KillerBug, my family and I like Samsung hardware a lot, we only have Samsung phones, two Samsung TVs... it is a great company).

On-topic, I would like to hear more about graf aswell, but I guess only time will tell. I wish he'd win the lawsuit, although I'm not getting my hopes up, because this is how the world is, a huge company can just crush someone doing something they don't like with money, which is sad.

The documents say that he had to pay about 1 million Euro, which he couldn't. So he has to go to jail for 6 months up to max. 2 years.

Thats absolutely horrible.. Sorry to hear it. Just because he's good with a computer doesn't mean he's unfit to be part of society.

Hope he gets through it alright and can make something of his life when he gets out.

I do not see what sony has on him exactly... He did not reverse engineer their software to my knowledge and Linux is covered under the GPL/GNU and other licenses of the sort.

Is it that presumption that linux can cause hacking of their software? If so, seriously cannot see that holding up in court.... Unless the laws in Germany are extremely different.

I'm Dutch and can read some German. As far as I understand the papers (legal papers are always difficult, even in someone's own language) they say what the penalty is if he goes "wrong" again according to the judge. And if he gets caught Sony doesn't need to go to court again but can send a bailiff right away for the money or get him to jail.

But nowhere a paper he is actually in jail. And because Graf is smart he stays far far away from any PS3. I hope he is that smart at least. Or he has to hide in a kind of bunker where no one can come in within 10 minutes so he has all the time to destroy the PS3 and his work

He reversed most of the PS3 hypervisor.
Even so, his work couldn't allow piracy, so there's still no real reason for Sony to sue him.

We will never know where some devs get their info from. But info can be given even by not owning a PS3 by someone who totally understands the HyperVisor

Nice to see the Pirate Party in Berlin got 10% of all votes. maybe there is hope for Graf
