1. Can you use this on only 1 console? (I want to be able to fix/downgrade several consoles, is this not possible?) yes only 1 console, can’t use on several console 2. If yes on #1, are there any plans to be able to use it to flash ofw and use it on several consoles? not have now 3. Does the flasher have to remain in the console once installed? (and the esata station too?) you can remove after downgrade success, then no need esata station 4. What if it doesn't work for me, can I return it? need check with your reseller . but please note if you backup bios successfully, it means the e3 flasher already bundle with your ps3, can’t use on other console ! |

That would be some nice information... You basically said "it's great, buy it", when many others are stating otherwise (with explanations why).

Woeheee!!
![]() ![]() I received my e3 tuesday and started reading the manuals etc.. But the English was so bad I was afraid to try installing immediately. I found this thread and became even more sceptical if this would work at all.. This morning I found the installation video by Christech which made me decide to give it a try this afternoon... I have a slim cech2104a with mobo SUR-001. Opening etc went fine, also installing the clip and the e3 board in the supplied case didnot give any problems. I installed the MOBO with the e3 allready installed in the esata port. Took some fiddling to get it in, as normally you first stick the mobo back-side in the bottom casing and now I had to put the frontside in first ( this as the e3 card sticks out slightly) I put the ps3 back together and put the HDD in the esata cradle( had to remove the casing, otherwise wouldn't fit), didnot attach the front panel of e3 yet, I first wanted to check if my ps3 would still boot.. Crossed my fingers and booted without problem. I turned off again and installed front panel with the switches and switched on again. This time all LEDs turned on to my relief.. I then tried to make a backup to micro sd , but all that happened was 1 blue led which blinked constantly.. AAAGH I was afraid I didnot install correct, but before reopening the ps3 tried another micro sd . This time it looked like nothing was happening, only it took about 1 min for the first blue light to appear, followed by the other 7.. After the last light went on all leds started blinking 4 by for. so first 1,3,5,7 and next 2,4,6,8. Took the sd to my PC and on it was a file called bkpps3.bin and also a .log file in which it stated "Backup PS3 BIOS OK." I then realised I was still on OFW 3.60 instead of 3.7* and updated to 3.73 via USB stick. After this I backed up again and the put the e3_downgrade.bin file on the SD.. put all the switches down except nr 6(lock/unlock) this one up and pressed start.. Again nothing seemed to happen but after a minute first blue light came up, followed by the other 7 again..after that again the blinking 4x4 .. Shut down the ps3, booted again and received the message to connect controller, only in dutch .. Switched the ps3 off with the power switch for slim which was in the e3 packaging . Put in my eclips3 dongle and started ps3, followed by eject . Dongle lit up and ps3 switched off. I then took USB stick and loaded the files from step 1 onto it. Put in the usb port closest to the Blue ray drive and switched on. Saw the HDD led and also USB led flash and after few minutes PS3 switched off.. Took the usb stick, deleted content and loaded file from step2 onto it. Put it back in the USB port, switched on and after 30 sec PS3 switched off again.. Took the usb stick out , crossed my fingers again and switched on. I was again asked to connect controller via usb, did this and went through the startscreens! yesss, was so happy that it booted normally, then finally I ended in the XMB, wit Rogero on it..? however still needed to check the system version.. OMG it said 3.70 wtf. Didn't know if this was good yet... On the xmb there was the text I wanted to see "Install package files.." Installed manager and all is working!!! Even my blue ray is still working ! Only thing which was very strange was updating the e3, I tried this before making the 2nd back up of 3.73, booted and all blue lights turned on immediately, so either update went very quick or update didn't happen... However, made the back up and when I put this on the PC the upgrade file was no longer in the sd card, so either it got installed, or when making back up card is erased first, can't tell... Soo quite a long story, but after being very afraid and sceptical I can confirm it it working ( at least for me).. |

Glad to hear someone has it working however I would still love to see a member with more then 1 post to have it working. At least your english is decent and you've been signed up for more then a day. lol. Hopefully more stories of completion will follow. |

If i would have made a video it would be a little long.. Took me in total about 2 hrs..:-) I want to ad also that it gave me the creeps during the flashing process.. Therefore i don't think i will switch back and forth? between firmwares.. Also flashing took about 5 mins... Maybe if i have a spare hdd i will try, but for now i'm just glad it worked..;-).. Thnx about the english , i am dutch..
True about the first post , i normally don' t have anything important to say, but this i needed to share.. Especially because no one seems to succeed.. Worked for me, but i don' t think i will keep the e3 in, the lights are very bright and distracting..
