touche... lol
Hmm, There has to be a way to disable HDD encryption. then you could use it on any ps3 (not firmware dependant) I'll leave it to the dev's. This is as far as I can go for now. get a mod to close this thread if it is of no use. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember reading that, using "ps3dm_sm set_del_def_encdec_key" doesn't technically disable encryption, it just changes the encryption key from eg "wwww xxxx yyyy zzzz" to "0000 0000 0000 0000" or something along those lines. So "disabling encryption" like that would allow you to use the same hdds in different ps3s as long as they've all had those encryption keys nulled, but it wouldn't make those hdds readable in pcs.
I'm not sure that's entirely true, but I just remember reading about it a while ago in some chan. If anyone can correct me, please go ahead. Last edited by cookie42; 10-30-2011 at 06:20 AM. |

so basically it's kinda like php passwording coding. $READHDD = SONYENCR($HDD) so even if it was undone, it'd read it like that. WAIT what if we disable encryption, and change the files/patches we want to hdd, then encrypt it again?? |
