Ubuntu 11.10 from External?
Hey everybody, sorry for making a thread about it, I read every single tutorial regarding installation of Linux on CFW but I need some extensive help since every tutorial is saperated to specific type of installation which doesn't correspond exactly to what I want:
I need to install Ubuntu 11.10 (I guess I need the PPC64 disk right? Since there are no more PS3 specific builds) on my PS3 on an external HDD, ofcourse I need it to be both Other OS/Game OS switchable. Any help? Do I need to partition or format my external for that?

Follow the gitbrew guide about it. First create an Ext3 partition on your external drive and a swap partition (2Gb). Install petitboot to internal. Skip the ps3dd part and install to the external partition.
http://www.ps3devwiki.com/index.php?...S%2B%2B#Ubuntu You need to puzzle a bit for external. Do note external is much slower as the internal drive.... I would use Red Ribbon btw: install petitboot, run Red Ribbon Live CD and install to external. Ubuntu needs to much memory for running as live CD making it much more difficult
